Mixing & Maintenance Guide

Everything for mixing solution, timing a cycle, and keeping your GEIA system running like new β€” tablet dilution, fogging times by room size, descaling, and coin replacement. This is a quick reference; always follow your unit's owner's manual and the EPA-registered tablet label directions.

STEP 1

Mixing Solution to 294 PPM

GEIA systems run HOCl at a target working concentration of 294 PPM, well within the 300 PPM equipment maximum. Mix per the tablet you're using, always following that product's EPA-registered label:

TabletDilutionResultEPA Reg. No.
3.3g Tablet1 tablet per 1 gallon water294 PPMAvailable upon request
6.5g Tablet1 tablet per 2 gallons water294 PPMAvailable upon request

Only use GEIA-approved NaDCC tablets

Good to know:
  • Shelf life: refer to the product label for the EPA-approved shelf life of mixed solution.
  • Verify with strips: use FAC PPM test strips to confirm concentration before a cycle.
  • Never exceed 300 PPM β€” the equipment maximum. Higher concentration does not mean better performance.
  • HOCl source options: EPA-registered tablets, ready-to-use (RTU) HOCl, or on-site HOCl generation are all compatible.
STEP 2

Fogging Times by Room & Model

Estimated baseline run times to treat a space, by model. These are starting points measured in optimal conditions β€” airflow and pressure are the determining factor in every application, so validate against your own space and build your SOPs from there.

Baselines are determined in optimal conditions. Your results will vary with ceiling height, airflow, HVAC state, and door seals. Detailed coverage figures are in each model's owner's manual.

STEP 3

Descaling & Coin Replacement

Descaling β€” every 6 months

Just like descaling a coffee machine, routine descaling clears the mineral buildup that forms on internal components over time and keeps output at peak performance.

  1. Mix one descaler packet with one gallon of water.
  2. Run the solution through the unit.
  3. Let it sit 30–45 minutes to break down deposits.
  4. Flush thoroughly with clean water before returning to service.

Schedule: every 6 months (more often in hard-water areas).

Coin Replacement β€” AYRUS only

The AYRUS atomizing coin is a wear component. Replace it about once per year with a GEIA Coin Replacement Pack to maintain a consistent 1–3 micron mist.

  • AYRUS PRO and SCOUT only β€” LUVIAN and ROGE use different atomization.
  • Replace sooner if output drops after descaling.
  • Order from Accessories or your distributor.
FAQ

Mixing & Maintenance FAQ

No. 294 PPM is the target and 300 PPM is the equipment maximum β€” never exceed it. Higher concentration doesn't improve results and can affect the equipment. Coverage and contact time, not concentration, are the levers.

Refer to the product label for the EPA-approved shelf life of mixed solution. HOCl potency declines over time once mixed, so mix what you plan to use.

Yes. Dry misting is a layer on top of cleaning, not a replacement. Clean visible soil first β€” heavy organic matter reduces HOCl effectiveness β€” then treat high-touch points, then run the mist. Surface disinfection claims still require pre-cleaning per the tablet's EPA label.

Confirm water level and that the solution was mixed correctly, then descale (mineral buildup is the most common cause). On AYRUS, if output is still low after descaling, replace the atomizing coin. For unit-specific error indicators, see your owner's manual or call support at 855-687-4342.
